CRIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1146

Shortly after midnight on Friday, Oct. 21, two men in a small tanker truck drove into the Sonic Drive-in at 110 S. West St. They told employees they were there to collect the grease. They then drained the grease pit into their truck.

The grease is resold and converted into bio-diesel fuel, which increases its value to several thousand dollars. This sort of theft has occurred multiple times in Wichita over the past months at several of the major fast-food restaurants.

The Wichita Police Department is asking you to help to identify these suspects. Both are white, of average height and build, and wearing work clothes.

Tenn. pharmacist pleads guilty to giving non-approved drug to kidney patients

A Tennessee pharmacist pleaded guilty Tuesday in federal court in Topeka to substituting a cheaper drug imported from China for kidney dialysis patients in Kansas.

The misbranded drug was substituted for the iron sucrose that the Federal Drug Administration has approved for kidney dialysis patients.

Robert Harshbarger, Jr., 53, Kingsport, Tenn., who was doing business as American Inhalation Medication Specialists Inc., pleaded guilty to one count of distributing a misbranded drug and one count of health care fraud, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom’s office said.

Wichita man found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in December stabbing

A Wichita man was convicted Tuesday of involuntary manslaughter in the Dec. 9 stabbing death of another man at a party in southeast Wichita.

In reaching the verdict, the jury rejected a prosecutor’s claim that Dat “Tommy” Nguyen, 29, acted with “extreme indifference to the value of human life” and was guilty of second-degree murder.

Wichita police said Tan T. Nguyen, 27, was stabbed in the back during a fight in the 2000 block of South White Oak, which is near Pawnee and Rock Road. The men were not related.

Woman pleads guilty to taking urine from 11-year-old girl

A 24-year-old woman pleaded guilty Monday to two felony charges for forcing an 11-year-old Haysville girl into a gas station bathroom and ordering her to urinate into a cup so the woman could use the urine to pass a court-ordered drug test.

Crystal Hopper, who listed a Wellington address after her arrest, pleaded guilty to interference with parental custody and aggravated endangering a child. She had been scheduled to stand trail this week in Sedgwick County District Court on kidnapping and robbery charges.
