CRIME STOPPERS CASE No. 1122

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on May 11, 2011 a woman was approached by an unidentified male while in her garage, threatened with a knife and assaulted. The woman lives in the Glen Hills Addition in Derby.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’10″ to 6’, thin to medium build, wearing a black ski mask, black nylon jacket, tight black jeans, black high top tennis shoes and black gloves. He fled the scene on foot. No vehicle description is available.

Three people from North Hollywood, Calif., have been arrested in an alleged scheme in which semi-trailer loads of goods were stolen from companies in California and an attempt to steal a load of processed beef was made in southwest Kansas, U. S. Attorney Barry Grissom said Wednesday.

Two of the three people, Oganes Nagapetian, 53, and his wife, Larisa Nagapetian, 46, are scheduled to be arraigned on a federal indictment in the U.S. District Court in Wichita on June 4; the third defendant, Tigran Nagapetian, 50, a brother of Oganes Nagapetian, appeared Tuesday before a U.S. magistrate judge in Los Angeles. He also is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Kansas on June 4.

All three are charged in the Kansas federal indictment, Grissom said.

A former Wichita police officer and two other people were charged Wednesday with conspiracy and wire fraud after an internal investigation by police concluded that they were involved in scheme to keep the officer from losing her job, according to U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom. . The police department submitted the results of its investigation to the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s office for review.

Former officer Joletta Vallejo, 34, and her friends, Patrick Melendrez, 40, Wichita, and Courtney Foster, 30, Wichita, are charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and seven counts of wire fraud.

The indictment alleges that on Oct. 16, 2011, a woman went to the Patrol North substation in Wichita to report that she had been abducted and beaten by her boyfriend, Larry Edmonds. Vallejo took the report and opened a case of misdemeanor domestic violence.

A third person has been arrested in connection with a shooting in broad daylight in north Wichita last week, police said.

The 29-year-old man was arrested at a motel in Hays late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, Lt. Randy Reynolds said. He had been implicated during questioning of a 31-year-old man who was arrested Tuesday morning following a brief police chase on North Topeka in Wichita.

A Crime Stoppers tip led to the Wichita arrest, Reynolds said.
