LEAD: DET. ALEXANDER, WICHITA POLICE DEPARTMENT
The Wichita Police Department is looking for help to catch a robber that has struck at least eight times between Dec. 25 and Jan. 11. The man robbed Dollar General stores at 2747 Boulevard Plaza, 1919 E. Pawnee and 2990 W. 13th, and Presto gas stations at 2001 S. Oliver and 515 N. Seneca. On Dec. 28 the man showed a knife and robbed the Presto clerk on North Seneca of money and cigarettes; he repeated his actions on Jan. 10 at the South Oliver Presto. On Jan. 11, he attempted to rob the clerk in an enclosed booth at Phamily Express, 1203 E. Pawnee. The robber tried to break into the booth, but the clerk picked up a gun and fired several shots at him. He was not injured. Total loss in the burglaries is more than $5,000.
The suspect is a black male, mid-40s to late-50s, 5-foot-6 and about 160 pounds. In each robbery he wore a tan coat over a black hoodie, tan pants or blue jeans, and brown boots.
