CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1301
On Thursday, Dec. 27, two men entered the Subway at 2424 S. West. They placed an order. When another customer entered the store, one man pulled out a black handgun and demanded money from both the customer and the employee at the register. The suspects fled in a black Pontiac G-6.

The man with the gun is a white male, mid 20s, 6-foot-2 to 6-foot-4 and about 220 pounds. He was wearing a black beanie, blue jeans and a black cotton zip-up jacket. The other man, also white, was 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-7, dark hair and an average to small build. He was wearing a black zip-up hoodie and blue jeans.

Vat Khamvongsa, 24, said he was tagging along with a childhood friend on Aug. 4, 2012, when he found himself among a group of Asian Boy gang members. They forced their way into a home at 830 S. Erie, and one of them cut Pheng Xiong’s throat. Khamvongsa was charged with first-degree murder.

Emmalynn Spencer, 18, spent the night of March 30, 2013, with four other young adults partying in Old Town. Early the next morning they drove to a field southeast of Wichita where one of them shot former South High football player Jordan Turner to death. Spencer was arrested and released without being charged.

Last year prosecutors filed charges in 11 homicide cases involving multiple murder suspects – as many as in the previous three years combined – and many of those cases are now working their way through the court system. Defendants in two of those cases are scheduled to stand trial this week.

A Wichita man who was a registered sex offender at the time he committed sexual crimes against a 14-year-old girl was given two life sentences Friday.

Sedgwick County District Judge Bruce Brown handed down the sentences for Gerrian Green, 32, for criminal sodomy and sexual exploitation of a child, District Attorney Marc Bennett said in a news release.

Brown ordered the sentences to be served consecutively and without the possibility of parole. Green was sentenced under the state’s aggravated habitual sex offender law, a Bennett spokesman said.

A 35-year-old woman head-butted a police officer as he tried to arrest her and then damaged his patrol car, according to a Wichita police report.

The incident started about 2 p.m. Thursday at a convenience store in the 800 block of South Meridian. A 31-year-old man told police the woman ripped a blinker off his company car, the report said.

When the officer started to take the woman into custody, she smacked him in the head with her head, Lt. Dan East said.
