Shortly before 10 p.m., on Tuesday, July 23, a black male entered the McDonalds at 1050 N. Broadway. The male placed an order and when the clerk opened the register the suspect grabbed the money. After a brief struggle the suspect ran off with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no injuries to the clerk.

The suspect is a black male, early to mid 40’s, 5 foot 2, 125 pounds, brown eyes, black hair, and was wearing jeans and a black shirt with an orange design on it.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to solve several car burglaries and slow crime at three specific locations. The Sedgwick County Zoo, Sedgwick County Park, and West Urban have had several vehicle break-ins over the past two months. The suspect(s) force entry to the vehicle and quickly take valuables that are visible. Loss and damages have totaled several thousand dollars.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office would ask that the public report any suspicious people and not leave any valuables in there vehicle while at these locations.

About 10:30 p.m. on Friday, July 5, Lloyd D. Fergueson and a six-year-old boy were riding his horse near the intersection of East 21st Street and Piatt. As they were trying to cross 21st Street a car struck them and then drove away. Mr. Fergueson died at the scene; the boy was hospitalized. The horse had to be euthanized because of its injuries.
Witnesses told officers that the car fled north on Piatt and disappeared. Based on the debris left behind, it was identified as a 2003-05 silver or gray Mercury Marquis. Officers say the car has extensive front-end damage, and that the horse may have rolled over the top of the car following the impact.

On Saturday, June 29th at 3:45 a.m. three unknown males entered the Sedgwick County Fleet Maintenance parking compound, located at 1015 W. Stillwell. Once inside the compound, the suspects targeted three Sheriff vehicles, taking several items from within. Specifically, one marked patrol unit had a window broken out and a Bushmaster M4 rifle and a Remington 870 shotgun taken. One transport van had a window broken out and a Remington 870 shotgun, a Sheriff coat, and a GPS unit were taken. Last, a Sheriff Command vehicle was entered and a laptop computer, fire extinguisher and two flashlights were taken. Loss and damage is valued at several thousand dollars.

LEAD: LT. GRIGGS, BEL AIRE POLICE DEPTARTMENT

Between midnight and 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, burglar(s) entered a garage in the 4300 block of East Eagle Lake Ct. in Bel Aire. They broke out a window to a vehicle and stole a purse containing a checkbook, identification and other items. Also taken was a weed eater. The victims were home; there were no injuries. Forged checks were used that day and several times over the next week. Loss is more than $1,000.

The suspect forging the checks is a white female, average build with blonde hair. She has a tattoo on the upper right side of her chest. A white man was seen with her at one of the stores. They drove off in a dark color four-door sedan.
