CRIME STOPPERS CASE 1819

FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 10, 2018
WICHITA POLICE DEPARTMENT: 18C29080 DETECTIVE J. MILLER

On May 7, 2018 at approximately 4pm the victim in this incident was stopped in traffic in the area of 1st and Broadway in an early 90’s red Ford Pick Up with a Confederate flag on the rear window.

The victim revved his engine to get the vehicle ahead to go once the light turned green, but, the vehicle did not move. The victim switched lanes, drove around this vehicle, and ended up southbound behind a 2010 White Chrysler Town and Country van. The front seat passenger hung out the window and put his arms in the air then set back down. While driving south towards 2nd Street, the victim ended up in front of the van. As the victim passed the van no words were exchanged. The victim then stopped at the red light at William and Broadway with the van behind him. The victim heard a single gunshot and a bullet hit his rear window and exited the cab through the front windshield narrowly missing the front seat passenger. The victim then drove quickly out of the area.

The victim described the occupants in the white van as two Hispanic males in neon orange t-shirts. The van had praying hands in the center of the back window with smaller stickers around the edge of the glass. This model of van has rear windows that roll down.

It is unclear the motivation behind the shooting. Attached are photos of the suspect vehicle that WPD needs to identify.
