About 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, Haysville Police officers were notified of a theft in progress at Nelson Elementary School, which is being remodeled. When police arrived, they learned that an 8x16-foot enclosed tandem-axle trailer, owned by Midwest Demolition Co., Lincoln, Neb., had been taken, plus a large quantity of equipment and supplies.
A witness reported seeing a black or dark-colored Chevrolet S-10 or similar type smaller pick-up pulling the trailer from the school east on 71st Street South.
The stolen Hilti-brand equipment required for demolition work was valued at more than $40,000. A few lower priced items have been recovered in Wichita, but most of the equipment is still missing. Some of the stolen items are pictured below.
