CRIME STOPPERS CASE #1612
FOR THE WEEK OF APRIL 3, 2016
DEPARTMENT CASE NUMBER: 02C53600
COLD CASE HOMICIDE
On June 4, 2002, officers from the Wichita Police Department were asked to check a house at 2020 S. Pershing. A neighbor was concerned because she saw that a window had been broken and some things appeared to be out of place. When the officers arrived at about 1:30 p.m. they found Dorothy and James Slaughter lying in the hallway of the house. Both were covered with blood and non-responsive. Dorothy died several weeks later as a result of blunt force trauma; James was badly injured. It has not been determined what items were taken from the home.
A neighbor reported seeing James in the yard the day before police were called.
